So what do people know about timing? For schools that had Nov. 1 or Nov. 15 deadlines and haven't scheduled interviews yet, when would those interviews be scheduled for?
If interviews don't happen in the next few weeks - then things stop for the holidays don't they? Do schools ever want anyone to come in before the spring semester starts?
Last year my interviews (for policy schools) were the last week of January and first week of February. In mid-Feb a school that had a failed search earlier in the year contacted me to interview during their second round. But, I already had a job so couldn't go for the interview.
Many policy schools are already interviewing OR they are interviewing for a senior position and will turn their attention to a junior position when that search is over.
Can those of us without interviews assume that we can make plans to go away Dec. 15-Jan 10th or so? Any chance a school would want to interview me in that window????
From the econ rumor blog... a few policy schools or policy jobs have set up interviews at AEA: Georgetown, Harvard, Cornell (PAM), and Michigan (public health).

I think assuming no interviews between Dec. 15 and Jan. 5 is safe.
I have never heard of anyone interviewing earlier than 1/8.
I once interviewed during the window between 12/25 and 12/1. At a top 10 polisci program.
